MRE Mail

The war in Iraq is officially over and the last of the troops are getting on planes and coming home. Congratulations on a job well done.

LOTS of people are REALLY good at arm-chair quarter backing our time spent there. Blessed with 20/20 hindsight every single one of us knows how we could have done it better, cheaper and quicker. I am that way myself. I think we could have done it faster, cheaper and been out a whole lot sooner. However, one of those plans involved pushing a big red button. You do NOT want thezeke as commander in chief.

I sincerely believe that in some odd years...pick 50 years (if our country is still here), the history books that are unswayed by current politics and brown nosing, will show President G.W. Bush as one of the greatest presidents in history. Why? Because he was a leader. He had his own agenda to be sure, as every president does, and I am not so naive to NOT think that every politician is always going to do two things: Lie and take my money.

However, he was not trying to ruin our country. He did a tough job when a job needed doing. He did not sit on a fence and stay neutral and politically correct. We quickly forget we were attacked and more civilians died than in Pearl Harbor. We quickly forget that for the first time in recent history the house and senate were unified and it was with 90% approval from all sides that we went to war. We quickly forget that we DID find weapons of mass destruction (though it was VERY minimized by the media).

Brief rabbit trail. I LOVE it when, after making the statement about WMD's people will look at me and say, "No we didn't....?" To which I respond, "Really? Were you there? What are your information sources? Oooooh CNN, THERE'S a SOURCE for you! So if you didn't see it on T.V. it didn't happen? What unit were YOU with? Ooooh you never served your country. But you KNOW we didn't find anything? Go slap yourself."

Back on topic. Obama will go down in history as this quote in history books, "WTF were you THINKING America!!!?? I once asked my Grandpa, a WWII vet, what would happen if, right after Pearl Harbor, we had elected a Japanese president? I'm sure you can imagine the response and I do not need to elaborate.

Of course it would require an entire new post to bring basic proof that Obama is not who he says he is, NOR has he released a VALID long form birth certificate. Lots of people do not like this subject or just respond, "That's a dead issue, why bring it up again?" Well, I don't know, if a Dr. is practicing as an M.D. you want to know he's licensed. If a lawyer is practicing law, he better have passed the bar. If a president is RUINing our country, you kinda want to know he meets the basic qualification of being BORN here and would like to think he did not spend his most impressionable years being trained by the enemies of the free world. I'll leave this rabbit trail now, but will make a new post on the basics. BAD PRESIDENT, NO BANANA!

Well, this post is not nearly as organized or flowing as I typically try to make it. Quite frankly, I am fine with that. I have a steaming cup of coffee in hand and am getting ready for work. What actually started and initiated my ranting had nothing to do with what I wrote about today. It was simply this:

As I went to address and envelope this morning, I started to write "free" in the top right corner. I've been back for FOUR years and some habits are just hard to shake. For those of you that don't know, when you are sending letters from a combat zone/or APO address, no postage is necessary. You just write "free" in the corner. If you really want to, you can rip the cardboard off an MRE (Meal Ready to Eat), jot your letter like a post card, write free and send it home....I did this several times while out on mission with little else to work with. The End.

On Zombies

Zombie-Wiki: "A term used to denote an animated corps brought back to life..."

Zombie-TheZeke: "The term given to epitomize the unspoken and subconscious word for fear of the unknown."

Upon return from Iraq, through a series of events I began to use the euphemism, "Zombie," as the explanation for certain actions upon my part.

Example #1. True story. An Assagai hunting spear arrived at my house by FedEx. I'm talking about a real battle-ready-sharp, broad-head spear. I DID NOT order this spear, but I loved it immediately. Sadly, I returned said spear to Cold Steel. I was very tempted to keep it, though I had no "practical" purpose for it. When asked why I would even want to keep the spear, the only realistic retort was, "For the zombies..."

Example #2. I woke up in the middle of the night in a state of dread...you know the type, "Did I hear something? Was that a noise? Is something in the house?" I turned to logic- and , later in the morning, explained my logic to my wife: If someone or something was in the house, like a zombie, our dogs would have been barking...unless of course............ our dogs were turned into zombies!!!

Example #3. Getting ready for each winter season I lay in a supply of food, bottled water etc. I never let the vehicle gas tank get bellow half empty. In addition, I have a basic winter survival kit in my vehicle with MRE, blankets, flashlight, candles, tow strap, jumper cables, snowmobile suit, gloves, boots, snow salt, shovel etc. These are basic winter necessities that I find mandatory. Other people have their own means of being prepared, and I find them, wearing shorts in -20F and possibly flip flops while stumbling down the road towards a distant gas station. I have given rides to several of these types over the years. Most are college students getting an "education." Obviously, they are going to be the first to fall victim to the zombie hoard.

Ultimately, I have found the word "Zombie" to be a great substitution for preparedness in any given situation. Each generation has it's zombies in many forms. The Cold War, natural disaster, in-laws, recession, job loss, riots, fear of invasion, long winters, domestic terror....the list goes on and on. But I have found it fun and somewhat of a hobby, to turn the fear of anything into an all inclusive word, "Zombie."

I have since found that the zombie Apocalypse is an actual cult following. In some areas it is bordering on religion. Some people are fanatically devoted to the idea that there will be a zombie inducing virus. Some just have fun and use zombie's as something for parties, Halloween etc. I am none of the above.

I enjoy a good laugh, and I enjoy being prepared to live life to it's fullest. What better way than to combine the two? Let the raging zombie hoard come and the resistance begin! Mwa ha ha!!!

Wallstreet

Quite honestly I have had my head in the sand on the whole Wall street issue. I didn't really know what was going on, so I did a little research. Surprise surprise, most of the occupiers of Wall street don't really know what is going on either!

My brief take on the situation is as follows:
1. The have-not's are blaming those that have for their problems
2. All their problems can be pinned on those that have money
3. Talk is cheap and people just now are starting to realize all Obama does is talk.

Government is not the solution, nor has it ever been the solution. Putting a cap on capitalism and free trade at any level is to slice the artery of lifeblood that is America.

It is a very small percent indeed that inherits wealth or are born to wealth. Those that are cannot be blamed for our life problems.

If the CEO of a major company gets paid millions of dollars, contrary to popular belief, it is more likely because he/she has the ability, knowledge and management capabilities to get the job done. They have a set of skills highly sought after and many are willing to pay top dollar for their services. Not to say there is not corruption and greed, but capitalism has it's own way of dealing with that sort of cancer...cut it out with a knife or die. Current government chooses to put this cancer on an I.V. and continue to feed the dying tumor (bailouts).

If you don't think a doctor should make millions of dollars, then don't whine when you get sub-par service. I don't know about you, but if I need brain surgery, I want the doctor who has thousands of operations on his resume and got top grade in school. I do NOT want the doctor that passed with a C and is just out of residency...and I am willing to pay for the better service. If you like social medicine, then go to Canada. Then ask yourself why people from all over the world, presidents and the like, come to America for medical care. Because the free market has allowed our technology to flourish like it never could anywhere else under government control.

The underlying theme to all of this is that if people would wake up a little, stop expecting uncle Sam to help them out of all their misery, started taking personal responsibility for their actions, and were willing to take a janitor's job and work for a living instead of whining about the fact that they have a degree and deserve a better job...and we all got rid of this rotting fetid sense of entitlement, we would all be a lot further ahead. It's a crazy thing this theory of....responsibility.

Morality- not a form of mushroom

Morality:

As requested I am making a post on morality. What is it?

Taken from Websters Dictionary, “Morality; concern with the distinction between good and evil or right and wrong; right or good conduct or motivation based on ideas of right and wrong”

So, based on this definition I will simplify all of this with a mish-mash of Q & A summary conversation I have had over the years.

Q-who decides what, is right and what is wrong?

A- The individual decides what is right and wrong, for themselves.

Q- Oh! So if I shoot you in the face right now is that right or wrong?

A- That’s wrong!

Q- But you just said that individuals decide what is right and wrong and if I decide that is right, than it is.

A- Well that’s not quite what I meant; I meant that individuals as a whole, in a collective group decide what is right and wrong

Q- Oh, so, what if a group of adult males decide to gang rape a 10 year old boy against his will is that right or wrong?

A- Well, that’s wrong, what I guess I meant was more along the lines of right and wrong through courts and legal proceedings and such.

Q- Well, never mind that the gang rape in some courts in the world is acceptable, and move right on to another question. If your sister takes a walk down the street by herself and she is arrested by the police, taken to court and sentenced to death with the execution carried out on the spot with no hearing or any other preventative action is that right or wrong?

A- That’s wrong! Insane even…

Q- By whose standards? This is not wrong according to Sharia law, carried out in court, in fact, it’s mandated.

This story and or argument can actually go on and on never-ending depending on whom you are talking to and which way each question is answered….the point is, mankind is uniquely incapable of deciding a standard for right and wrong, and even when they/we do, it changes. There are far too many variables. The only way to have right and wrong is a standard, and human standards are debased, crooked and intolerable at best. The only true standard of right and wrong is the highest power known. The divine, God. What has God said is right and wrong? You could start with the 10 commandments, and what a great start that is (google it); you could read the ENTIRE bible and learn its literal meanings. This does mean, as it implies, reading the WHOLE thing instead of picking out certain verses to support your argument or theory without true context. You might actually need to then do a little research with a Greek/Hebrew lexicon, as well as Latin root words. The problem is, that in this society with google and the American dream of “I want it and I want it now”…that there are too few people who would actually take the time to read the book.

This could spawn an entire new argument. Suffice to say I am speaking of God in His absolute form, one which we can barely comprehend, and NOT what mankind has made Him into for their own uses.

Thus immorality. Not that you have to read a book to get a grasp on morals. There are other ways of learning them, but the concept is the same. There is a standard for morality, but with that standard comes free will and free choice. However, free will does have it’s consequences it’s, reactions. “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

Does this make sense? This is my concept of morality. Thankfully, after finding the standard of morality and realizing there is no way to follow it exactly all the time, one finds within that tome of knowledge the concept of grace…and that is something to be thankful for.

Evil

It seems I can barely keep to my promise of one post per month during summer! Looks like I missed all of August.

Debate for the day: One of the standard arguements I hear from the Atheist and Agnostic is, "If God truely exists and He is a good loving God who is all-powerfull, then how come this good, loving, all-powerfull God stand by and let evil exist.

This is a good question, so I give you the following arguement (though certainly not by any means an original one).

Does cold exist? Does it? No, it does not. Cold is the absence of heat. When all form of heat is absolutely removed you reach -459.67 F or absolute zero. You cannot get any colder. However, heat exists as it can continuously add to it.

With that being said, Does darkness exist? Really? No, it does not. You cannot give me a jar of darkness for darkness is merely the abscence of light.

Now, does evil exist? If God is love then what is the abscence of love? I have certainly seen my share of the abscence of it in my life, yes I have. But I have also seen the evidence of it.

Segue- if there is no god and we are merely highly evolved goo and it is survival of the fittest...then there can be no such thing as love. Self sacrafice and love are not something highly evolved matter would consider crucial to survival.

While I am being random, beer is to football as evolution is to science. Each has an association, but in no way ARE part of the whole. Example= for evolution to be a science, it must first violate two important scientific facts: 1. Organic matter cannot come from inorganic matter, 2. life cannot come from non-life.

How's that for a mouthfull?

The Real Killer

I think we can all agree that premature death is deplorable. Yet, it is a fact of the world we live in that death, like taxes is, something that will catch up with all of us in the end. But, if we truly want to do something about human life being taken early, a seemingly simple, yet, ultimately confusing question needs to be asked.

If there are two inanimate objects, and one "causes" death at a rate of 28 per 300,000,000 per year, and the other inanimate object "causes" death at a rate of 30+ per 300,000,000 per year, which one should we be putting our efforts towards in an effort to restrict it's accessibility? One would think the one that causes more death right? Wrong. But I'll let you decide.

Oh yes, food for thought for the end of this post. Another inanimate object (A) kills 20,000 Americans out of every 300,000,000 per year. An animate "thing" (B) kills 1.3 MILLION Americans per year....yet we seem to be FAR MORE concerned about the simple 28 deaths than ANY of the others. Okay, I digress. Enough with all this intrigue and mystery.

The inspiration for this post comes from the recent Norway shooting/massacre. At the time of this writing 80 murders have been confirmed.

Some of he immediate responses to these deaths are:
1."Norway needs even stricter gun laws"
2."Reducing the magazine (ammunition) capacity could have prevented this
3."More re-load time would have given opportunity for people to tackle the shooter
4. "The shooter would not have been able to pull this off if semi-auto rifles we more regulated/restricted. (registered, regulated, controlled)

My response to these responses are simple, you are sheep being lead to the slaughter. As sheep you have no concept of the capacity for evil in human beings.

Based on this faulty logic I could conclude that no mass murders or psychopaths existed prior to the creation of firearms. Hog-wash. Also, when is a sheep ever going to "tackle" a wolf in it's midst? Sheepdogs maybe, but were there any of these on this island with the wolf? I think not. (Highly recommend reading the book "On Combat" by Lt. Col David Grossman)

Quote taken from that book "If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen: a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath--a wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? Then you are a sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero’s path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed."

(See also my older posts titled, " "Why?" You ask? Good Question." "and "Wo To the Ignorant" both from 2010) Ah heck, if you haven't already...read the whole blog!

I will use items 1-4 and the logic therein. Before doing so, it should be noted that Norway has one of the most extreme anti-gun and/or gun control policies in the world. One has to have a government permit in order to carry pepper spray for personal protection. Also it should be noted that bombs are completely illegal, yet "somehow" those laws did not stop the shooter from using one on the capital. So how are more laws and regulations going to help reduce gun violence? They aren't. Now, onward to my logical comparison.

Do a little research and you will find that there is another killer of children out there, another inanimate object that kills MORE children EVERY year than all the guns in America! Yes, you guessed it, 5 gallon plastic buckets.
While loaded guns are responsible for 28 deaths every year, plastic 5-gallon buckets full of water kill 30 children every year. Should it not then stand to reason that we should be imposing more restrictive bucket laws? Based on the numbers it would. However, we are doing NOTHING.

Why do I not hear an outcry for "Stricter bucket-laws?" and "Bucket registration." I mean COME ON PEOPLE!!! Effective immediately we need to store water separately from buckets; they should also be under lock and key.

No more of this 5-gallon bucket capacity nonsense. From now on we should pass laws that restrict how much a bucket can hold. No more than 1 quart capacity should be sufficient.

Furthermore the bucket refill speed MUST be reduced. I think we should pass laws that puts a slow flow nozzle on the cover of the bucket to ensure proper use and slower re-load or re-fill time. You should not be allowed to fill a bucket quickly with a detachable hose, so we'll get rid of those too. Out-law imported hoses. We'll call it the "Bradley Bill."

We can culminate all these new laws by beginning law suits against the manufacturer of these buckets.

Would you believe that bucket-control laws are not even beginning to break even with current gun-control laws? NONE of these types of laws have even been proposed on buckets when statistics SHOW that buckets kill more than guns!!!

We need to think of the children, and end bucket-violence NOW!

Does this give any food for thought? When guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns...er, buckets. There is way too much to cover on this subject in this small sarcastic (hopefully thought-provoking) post. But I'm sure you get the idea.

Ah yes, items A and B from the top. Item A is drunk drivers, (sorry, we tried restricting alcohol once and got organized crime). Item B is abortion, and may God have mercy on us for continuing to allow this paganistic sacrifice of human life (call it "choice" if it makes you feel better)...our own willful genocide. Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin and Hussein have NOTHING on America

Old Glory is Still Flying

Ask a variety of people what the 4th of July is all about and you will get shocking variety of answers. Try it and you will see. I am personally shocked and amazed that some do not even know what it represents. Here we are, living in the land of the free and the home of the brave. The country known as the leader of the free world, and shockingly, many do not even realize it's origins.

On a radio program the other day it took 7 people before someone could find the first line of the Declaration of Independence. Of course I had parents who made me memorize it by the age of 12, but that is beside the point.

One response I heard some time ago was that the Declaration of Independence was when some old, fat, rich white guys did something.

They did do something, but none of them got to get to an age considered "old," very few ever had riches. Their signatures, for many, meant a death sentence, and they knew what it could mean when they signed. Granted, life and liberty are wonderful things. So wonderful that there are always those who know that freedom is worth dying for. Indeed, Nathan Hale, during the revolutionary war, shortly before his execution said words that would ring down through history, "I regret that I have only one life to give for my country." How many of us love freedom this much?

This Independence Day, amidst the beer, the fireworks and the fun, remember the price that has been paid. Remember that "The tree of liberty must be renewed from time to time by the blood of patriots and tyrants."

Start a tradition of teaching a little of our countries history to your children. It shouldn't be hard amidst the world of the Internet, and they certainly aren't getting or absorbing much of it in schools these days, and it will mean a lot more coming from YOU.

I'm going to have a talk with my boy about this, and later I'll watch "The Patriot" as I do every year. Then I'll walk to the grave site of a dear friend I fought beside in the war of my own generation. I'll drink a beer and pray, thanking God every day for running water, food in my belly and the knowledge that NOTHING is free.

My Loyal Readers

I could hardly believe it when I saw that my last post was late April! I have an agreement with myself that, even if I am on an extended hiatus from writing in general, that I will at LEAST write one post per month on my blog.

I have used this blog for so long and put so much into it, that I don't think I could ever bear to take it down. I have thought about it several times, but have alwasy reached the same conclusion; it must stay. For nothing else than to know that my words are read by someone (or lots of someones) out there in the wide world. This was further confirmed as I read my last post comment from someone on a different continent...now that is rewarding!

One of the items on my bucket list was to eat all the marshmallows out of a bag of lucky charms. Two months ago this item became reality. Now that that is accomplished...one of my biggest dreams is to someday become a published author. Now, I know this will not happen as long as I keep myself on page 36, which I have been stuck on for the past 8 months or so, which will happen when one takes a break from writing. However, I do know that I have finished everything I have ever started in my life, and I'm not about to stop now.

So this is a thank you to all of my loyal readers. You are in part responsible for this blog, and for my finished book that is to be. It is for you the reader that I keep writing, as much as for myself.

How to Brainwash a Nation

How to Brainwash a Nation. At the bottom of this post is a summary from Yuri Bezmenov (Former KGB operative) in the 1980's on the process of brainwashing a nation. Not science fiction, but the practical tactical approach. He hits the nail on the head I think.

MY conclusion first:
A friend of mine was once told that he had to take a certain ammount of required general liberal education courses his first two years at college. He asked why “liberal” courses were “required?” The advisor responded that, “It’s for a well rounded education.” To which my friend responded, “So are there required general conservative courses offered in the first two years?” Shocked the advisor said, “Why, I’ve never heard of such a ridiculous thing!” To which friend responds, “Then how is it a well rounded education?”

This interview was done in 1985…but it could have been yesterday for how it describes what our society has become. Colleges full of liberal teachers and liberal classes have turned out Liberal teachers, who in turn become grade school teachers who spew this propaganda to our children, who are spoon fed garbage at such a young age and through all their higher education that it becomes truth to them.

Generations of youngsters with ideas such as:
1. There is no absolute truth = therefore no right and wrong = degraded demoralized society = abortion, pornogaphy, fornication, nothing in moderation
2. Evolution is fact = no alternative theories tollerated
3. All roads lead to heaven = no judgement = zero consequences for actions
4. No violence tollerated = no retaliation or self defense = sitting ducks at Virginia Tech
5. All this equals a country perfect for a dictatorship that will take everything from you while smiling and saying, “I’m the government and I’m here to help.”

Yuri's summary on brainwashing a nation
4 steps:

1. DEMORALIZATION- takes 15-30 yrs….this is to “educate” one generation into whatever ideology you choose. Three generations will be exposed to this through “higher education” without being confronted. Demoralization comes from lack of moral standards. True information (truth) does not matter anymore.

A demoralized person is incapable of recognizing truth. Even when presented with documents, pictures and factual statements he cannot assess what is and what is not true.

2. DESTABILIZATION- takes 2-5 years…economy, foreign relations, and defense systems…brought about by violent change in the economy.

3. CRISIS- change in economy is brought about by some sort of crisis, created or natural

4. NORMALIZATION: You live in a situation of government control or sub-standard living for so long that it becomes “normal.” This stage could last forever. An example would be when Stalin used the phrase “Normalization” when his tanks moving into Czechoslovakia.

To promise people all kinds of goodies & the paradise of earth, to destabilize your economy, to eliminate the principle of free market competition, put a big brother government in Washington DC w/ benevolent dictators like Walter Mondale who will promise LOADS of things never mind whether the promises are fulfilled or not.

Libya

I had a question posed to me yesterday...it was, "I don't know about political reasoning, what does it mean now that we are involved with Libya?"

I decided my response and thoughts were post worthy. The short answer is, nothing, besides helping, because it's the right thing to do.

Interesting question...one to which I had no immediate answer besides, "Well, eventually someone will point out that they are the 18th largest producer of oil in the world, so I'm SURE the only reason we are helping is for the oil...." That was of course, a joke.

For once our country is not the only one willing to stand up to another dictator willing to slaughter his own people for daring to speak out against him.
The United Nations has endorsed this, which means America will do the dirty work as usual.

Surprise surprise however, France drew first blood, destroying a convoy of tanks on it's way to put down protesters. Britain our old friends are there again and have sent the SAS into country. We have fired over 100 Tomahawk missiles at Libyan military units targeting civilians.

These are all good things. Now that we have started a military operation, I hope politicians stay in their offices and let our boys on the ground do their job.

Now of course I just have to point out that if this was Bush's 2nd term, everyone would be freaking out and up in arms about how this is not our fight and we're just oppressing another nation...but since it's the favored one, Obama, it's all gonna be okay.

Sarcasm aside, so far so good. I like missiles.

"Dies the Fire"

I am currently reading a very good book in a series called, "Dies the Fire." Basically all technology, including gun-powder ceases to exist in a bright flash of light. Chaos ensues and it quickly becomes swords, bows and old world living.

Prior to the reading of this book I have been curing a set of bulls horns to use as drinking horns. It is a week process of washing, soaking, brushing etc. and that is WITH modern tools, chemicals and cleaning liquids.

This leads to the question as simple as, "What would I do if the electricity went out?"

My entire town blacked out for a couple hours this winter and it lead to some insights. For instance...all my heat is electric, and we were without heat in very cold temperatures for a scant two hours...and I did not like it. I immediately procured a wood stove.

I have always been a hobby-survivalist, but never took it too seriously. Now I plan on making it an active hobby and it may lead to a post on this site every now and again.

The basics of survival are water, fire, shelter and food...in that order. When our power went out we were inside a modern home in northern Minnesota. I always have 10 gallons of water or so on hand, and some extra non-perishable food in the cupboards, but wondered how many people didn't...? Every heating element in our house is based off electricity...and at -40 F when the power goes out...it is not a laughing matter...

So I guess I would ask each reader...if the electricity went out and you were stuck in your house for a minimum of 3 days, be it from natural disaster (blizzard, flood, storm etc), rioting or other reasons...could you survive comfortably? What about a month?

Do you:

1. Have drinkable water? Remember, no electricity means no ground water pump=faucets don't work.
2. Have a way to heat and cook? (Straight gas stoves should still work)
3. Have food beyond the refrigerator that will keep for a month? Canned food, dry goods?
4. Have a way to protect yourself your family and your stuff against the silly rascals that might want to take it for themselves? Remember Mississippi with the riots and looting. This can happen on all scales small and large...

Just some items to think about among many others.

Taxes and an Economic Solution

I have decided a quick fix for the economy as it pertains to taxes and the Fed spending it.

1. Stop "taxing the rich" and therebye outsourcing American jobs to other countries (i.e. big business gets nailed with HUGE taxes and they move busines outside the United States= major loss of U.S. jobs) Loss of revenue for programs you say? I have that figured out as well...

CUT PROGRAMS:

2. Stop outsourcing MY tax money, taxed for MY benefit, to other countries. No more money to Mexico for abortions, no more money to Africa for food (that goes straight to their military and corrupt leaders anyway).

3. Make a MASSIVE cut to the welfare system. Texas has a GREAT model.

4. Make a MASSIVE cut to our local criminals, i.e. no more expensive meals, expensive housing, expensive play time. Time to put them to work and earn their keep. No more $40,000 per year per inmate at maximum security. The deep South and GREAT work programs (especially that Sheriff in Arizona...guess that is SW)

5. Cut education. THAT'S right! Especially in Minnesota. No child left behind is not working, scrap that program. Florida has an outstanding program they are going to try, Capatalism in school. Very similar to a health savings account they will have education savings account. Anyone (Grandpa, parents, friends, YOU) can put pre-tax dollars into education savings for little Jonny, and the state has to divvy up and pro-rate a certain dollar amount for each student to add to that account as well. You can THEN choose where that money goes for little Jonny's education; private, public, home etc. This will create competition among schools for those students and dollars. Competition will include providing the best education, best teachers, etc. No government program can ever compete with the free market.

6. Term limits in government. No more career politicians for 35 years. They forgot where they came from and how to earn an actual living. Too many drug deals in government after you've been in for over 6 years and too much focus on getting re-elected. Oh yes, no more sweet pension after only 2 years. Military doesn't get it, civilians don't get it, neither should senitors. Oh and wait, you have to be on public health plans like us, and all laws you pass apply to YOU as well.

7. ILLEGAL immigrants do not have rights in this country. Come back the right way, quit bringing drugs and crime to add to this country, quit using our hospitals and sticking the tax-payer with your bill. No more social security and welfare you never contributed to. You want to be here and work that is fine, there are programs available like, JOIN THE MILITARY AND GET A GREENCARD!!!

That should do it for now...though this will probably not happen until society is willing to change (revolution, civil war, coordinated country-wide protests), or I am crowned King or Supreme Ruler of the Free World.
